Introduction
This is an attempt to introduce to you an
inspirational movement called “The Ugly Indian” that started in our own
Bengaluru.
In simple words, they try to transform filthy and unsanitary public places into something so beautiful that people who knowingly or innocently spoil such places don't feel like doing that anymore. Leading by example and several unique qualities, they are evolving into something really special. Staying anonymous and “Kaam Chaloo Muh Bandh” are some of their important qualities.
More about TUI
To know more about them, you can visit their website:
Their Facebook page is becoming extremely popular:
To fully understand their work, their youtube videos are very helpful:

I would highly recommend watching the
transformation they did near Bishop Cotton premises in 2011. It’s a 18 part
video, but I am confident that once you start watching the first one, you will
not rest until you reach the end of 18th part. (With no problems in
internet connection, this will take little over an hour to watch all 18 parts)
Here is the link for part 1:

If you are hard pressed for time, please
watch this short video; this is a recent example where IBM employees became
TUIs and transformed a stinking and filthy place into something … (see for
yourself!)
To truly appreciate and admire their work, becoming one of the UI is the best way.
Simple and yet brilliant
innovations for public good
TUIs have also come up with several innovative
ideas, products, strategies for greater good of public (places). Following is
just one example which has become a great success – Tere Bin

start with your own street - ಸರಿಯಾದ ಮಾತು.
